The peripheral aspect of the trigeminal ganglion gives rise to 3 divisions. From the trigeminal ganglion a single large sensory root portio major enters the brainstem at the level of the pons.
It is found in the pteryopalatine fossa behind the middle turbinate of the nose and is noted to be triangular in shape.
